Staff at the Refuge were delighted to hear that a recent application to BBC Children in Need has been successful.
The three-year funding will develop our DOVE Project, supporting children and young people who have been affected by Domestic Abuse and Violence. Operating out of our Refuge in Bolton, 22 flats provide accommodation for women and children escaping Domestic Abuse, the Project offers one-on-one and group interventions for 5-12-year olds. Project Workers support young people to deal with the impact of Domestic Abuse, teach them how to stay safe in the future and help them to manage strong emotions.
Our Operations Manager, Leanne Labrow, said: “We’ve been operating DOVE in the Community for a couple of years, with great results. We recognised how valuable it would be to replicate this work in the Refuge and thankfully BBC Children in Need agreed, now we can’t wait to get this project started”.
