Adult Services at the Outreach Support Centre

Fortalice provides frontline services for low, medium and high risk victims of Domestic Abuse. Our services include telephone advice and support alongside one to one sessions, which include risk assessments, safety planning, MARAC assessments and advice and guidance. From these sessions, a range of services such as groupwork, counselling, advocacy and support in the community can be offered.

The Freedom Programme

The Freedom Programme is a 12-week rolling programme. This means you can join at any point – the benefits are the same as long as you complete 12 weeks.

What are the aims?

  • To help women recognise the different types of abuse
  • To help women understand the beliefs held by perpetrators
  • To recognise which of these beliefs are shared by society
  • To explore the effects of Domestic Abuse on children
  • To have a better understanding about healthy relationships
  • To help women feel better about themselves and build confidence to improve the quality of their lives
  • To introduce women to local resources within the community

Who is it for?

The Programme is open to any woman who wishes to learn more about themselves and issues around Domestic Abuse within a supportive group.

Where is it?

The Freedom Programme runs remotely via Zoom three times a week.

When is it?

Tuesday 6pm – 7:30pm and Wednesday 10am – 11:30am.

Recovery Toolkit

Follows on from the Freedom Programme and is designed to help women recover from trauma related to experiencing Domestic Abuse and to positively move on with their lives.

Next steps

The Next Steps Programme is an eight week group therapy programme that follows on from the other two courses offered at our Outreach Support Centre. The aim is to re-consolidate identity for women in order for them to move forward to independence.

Counselling

The Outreach Support Centre offers counselling for women, aged 18 and over, affected by Domestic Abuse as well as a general counselling service for all issues. We use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Integrative Counselling and Person Centred Counselling within the sessions. All women are listened to with respect and without being judged when they choose to talk about their experiences.

Fortalice offered 1,856 counselling appointments between April 2018 and March 2019. Our feedback shows that 98% of our clients felt they got the help that they needed to move forward with their issues.
