Talking therapies for domestic abuse survivors
We offer a range of one-to-one counselling services from our Outreach Support Centre in Bolton. Specialist talking therapies are available to both adults and young people from as early as 4 years.
Counselling helps by providing a safe, non-judgemental environment where you can openly explore your thoughts and feelings.
Counselling for adults
Counselling sessions are available to women aged 18 and over who have been affected by domestic abuse. A more general counselling service is also accessible if you have other personal experiences you would like to explore.
We use a mix of different therapies and counselling techniques within the sessions to find the style of counselling that works best for you. Services are offered in-person or remotely to suit you. Our number one priority is to let you do the talking and to listen respectfully without ever making judgements. It’s always your choice to talk about your experiences.
Counselling for children and young people
Counselling and children’s therapy is for young people between the ages of 4-18 who have experienced domestic abuse either in familial or personal intimate relationships. Counselling can help young people to manage their behaviours and cope with experiences that are affecting their emotional and mental health.
We use a mix of play and talking therapy with young people. Play therapy works really well with very young children as they can ‘play out’ and express feelings they find difficult to put into words. Talking therapy helps them to work through their experiences and come to terms with what’s happened to them.
Our Filial Therapy Service is a blend of play therapy and family therapy and can offer a way for parents and carers to re-attune to their children through the medium of play.
