Immediate advice and support
If you are at high risk of serious harm from domestic abuse, sexual violence or violence, your case will be referred to a ‘MARAC’ and our independent domestic abuse advisors (IDVA) will be ready to step in. We’ll help you get to a safe place, talk about the difficulties you’re facing and find you all the support you need.
This support is available for women and men. All our IDVAs are legally trained and currently hold, or are working towards, a nationally accredited qualification.
Practical and emotional support in high risk situations
Once you’re assigned an advisor, you’ll meet or speak regularly to talk through the difficulties of your unique situation. We’ll explore your thoughts and feelings, help you to understand these and how to manage them going forward.
Our aim is to empower you to recognise the warning signs of domestic abuse, reduce the risk of further trauma and help you regain control of your life.

How we can help:
We usually work with you for up to 12 weeks, however if you feel you need additional support we can refer you to other services. This happens only when we are happy that the risk to you and your family is reduced.
Survivors’ stories
“Fortalice, you helped my heart heal and my mind settle. I can’t tell you how much I owe my strength to you over this past year. I was referred to Fortalice last year when I reached breaking point. I was blessed to have been appointed Jane as my worker. Our chats, and her support and understanding have been so instrumental in my recovery and strength. I hope one day I can tell her in person how much she saved my life and helped me through this hurricane.”
“In the midst of a storm, you were, and still are, a massive support for me.”
